These National Occupational Standards (NOS) detail the competencies required of a port operative.
A port operative is responsible for the operational activities associated with the transfer of cargo and passengers between the vessel and cargo area and/or passenger terminal.
These standards are relevant to the following operational roles:
- Stevedore.
- Marine operative.
- Passenger operative.
- Leisure port operative.
- General operative.
- Team leader.
The NOS were produced by Port Skills and Safety, in conjunction with employers and stakeholders.
