PSS, the standard-setting body for the port sector, is calling for employers and stakeholders with an interest in the Port Marine Operations Officer level 4 apprenticeship standard to come forward to join a Trailblazer group.

The Trailblazer group will work with the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) to review the apprenticeship, bringing it up to date and future proofing it to meet industry needs.

The apprenticeship standard was first approved for delivery in 2018. It is used by ports and harbours to train new entrants and upskill employees. It was designed to provide hands-on training in all aspects of marine operations within port operations, radio room and marine control centre, with the responsibilities of berthing masters, dock masters and deputies, harbour masters and their assistants.

If you are interested in joining the group, please contact us. The first meeting for this work will be held on 17 July.
