Blog post: PSS visit to Teesport
News |Published: Jul 22, 2024
We are pleased to share the highlights from our recent visit to PD Ports Teesport, where Debbie Cavaldoro and Jen Maddison had the opportunity to meet with the PD Ports team. This visit offered a valuable glimpse into the operations and services that make Teesport the fifth largest port in the UK.
The day began with a warm welcome from the PD Ports team, followed by an engaging lunch where Debbie and Jen shared updates on PSS services, resources and latest campaigns, industry performance, and incident statistics with the PD senior leadership team. These discussions outlined the current trends and challenges within the industry, as well as the services offered by PSS. After lunch, we embarked on a pilot boat tour of Teesport. This tour provided a chance to see the port’s extensive facilities and services, handling 40million tonnes of cargo each year. PD Ports chair Jerry Hopkins talked about the changes which had taken place recently, including a renewed focus on innovation
We extend our thanks to the PD Ports team for their hospitality and for providing an overview of their operations. Port visits like this provide an excellent opportunity for PSS and our members to put ‘names to faces’, to ensure members are making the most of membership and PSS is focusing support in the best places.
