Blog post: PSS Port Skills Group meeting

PSS Skills, Careers and Diversity Lead, Angela Ward and Office and Events Manager, Rhiannon Harty, were thrilled to be hosted by SeaBot Maritime at the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) in Southampton for the PSS Port Skills Group (PSkG) on Monday 10 June 2024.

The NOC was perfectly located for the meeting, with a fantastic view of the harbour.

PSS was pleased to welcome attendees from 17 member organisations to share best practice, improve awareness of skills and careers initiatives and resources, share data and to network with other learning and development, HR and training professionals.

The presentations covered a range of topics on careers, skills initiatives and new technologies. The breakout sessions were full of discussions that will support the work on career and training mapping.

Following the meeting, delegates were treated to a tour of the British Ocean Sediment Core Research Facility (BOSCORF), where they were shown core samples, taught how they are collected, analysed and how the information is used.
