PSS Innovation and Technology Working Group update
News |Published: May 18, 2026
The PSS Innovation and Technology Working Group (I&TWG) held a meeting in May which provided a productive discussion, with members sharing views on innovation challenges, opportunities, and priorities across the port sector.
Alongside discussions on current funding opportunities and wider innovation activity, attendees also shared what they would find most valuable from future meetings.
The top priorities identified were:
- Examples of technologies members are beginning to use.
- Presentations from innovators.
- Information on grant opportunities and funding.
There was also interest in guidance on how to run innovation projects, networking opportunities, and support to improve how data is gathered and used across organisations.
Additional suggestions highlighted the value members place on hearing about successful innovation projects and seeing practical, real-world examples from across the sector.
It is encouraging to see such strong interest in practical learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing, particularly as this is still a relatively new working group.
We would welcome further involvement from members across the sector. If your organisation is exploring innovation, trialling new technologies, or looking to learn from others, this is a great opportunity to get involved in the conversation.
Working group meetings are held quarterly online. More details are below.
