BPA Workshops on General Data Protection Regulation and Cyber Security for Ports - Book Now

Published: Thursday, December 21, 2017 - 15:44

The British Ports Association are hosting two workshops in the new year that you may be interested in. The first is on compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation, which is coming into force in May 2017. This is a significant change to the law that requires all organisations to take action. It will be necessary not only to comply, but to document and demonstrate compliance, which in most cases requires early action. Violations may attract large fines of up to 4% of your revenue. This will take place at our offices in London on 18 January. The event will be free for BPA port members. You can register for the event here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/are-you-ready-for-gdpr-tickets-41136022952

The second workshop is on Cyber Security for Ports on 13 February in Edinburgh. Cyber security is an increasing management priority for many businesses and organisations and this session is aimed primarily at senior port managers or those involved in compliance, legal and governance issues within the organisation. It is not a ‘technical’ seminar and is suitable for ports of all sizes. A programme will be sent out shortly but the Department for Transport and the National Cyber Security Centre will be there to update members and answer questions on what Government is doing and what Government expects from ports. We will strive to make the day interactive where possible. The event is free for BPA port members.
