Two port fatalities reported in the same month

Port Skills and Safety Ltd has been saddened to hear of two separate fatal accidents having occurred in two different UK ports this week. We send our condolences to the families and colleagues of the deceased.

PSS, the collective body for Safety and Skills in UK ports, is committed to ensuring that everybody working in UK ports is able to go home safely at the end of the day. To learn of two fatal incidents within weeks of each other is shocking and we will be working with all those involved to understand the root causes of both accidents and take whatever steps may be needed to learn the lessons of both to avoid any repetition in future.

All PSS members are committed to safe working practices and sharing the root causes of any incidents to ensure all lesson are learnt. We will share the outcomes of these incidents when the individual investigations have been completed.
