We were delighted to welcome over 80 members and maritime stakeholders to the Innovation in Ports conference this week. Many thanks to our partners TT Club and COMET, hosts Belfast Harbour Commissioners and all our speakers and exhibitors.

Innovation in ports not only supports improved safety, but it often improves efficiency, saves money and is key to attracting the next generation into port careers. The ports of Tyne, Blyth and Belfast spoke about initiatives they had already implemented to help them make the next step in a digital revolution including 5G, immersive training and R&D. Other presentations included new PSS member Intelligent Fingerprinting, alongside Ensemble Analytics and AI drivers. At the end of the conference Artemis Technologies took participants out onto the water to experience the smooth sailing of their hydrofoil vessels. Exhibitors also provided delegates with the opportunity to get their hands on some of the tech available.

The day proved to be thought-provoking and relevant, with many delegates commenting that they had taken something from every presentation and conversation they’d had throughout the day.

On the subject of innovation, PSS was also delighted to be highly commended in the Learning and Engagement category of the ICHCA and TT Club Innovation in Safety awards for our emergency flash cards. These cards help teams to create unique scenarios for testing their emergency response. If you would like to order a pack they are available to order from the website.
