Mental health in ports: How are you feeling?

Published: Feb 2, 2026

January is over and that means sunnier days are (probably) on the way. It also means it’s time for PSS to ask all port workers, “How are you feeling?”

The annual PSS Mental Health in Ports campaign returns in March as we continue to advocate for open conversations about mental health. At the heart of the campaign is the belief that understanding how people feel is crucial for supporting the workforce effectively.

As part of this initiative, PSS conducts a ports happiness survey to give port workers a chance to share their experiences and concerns in a safe and confidential way. This helps us to understand how port workers feel about their work lives, how work life is affected by everyday hopes and fears, and crucially, whether they are more or less happy than this time last year.

We ask that you not only complete the survey, but also forward it to your colleagues and encourage them to take the time to complete it too.

As the March campaign approaches, let’s remember the importance of listening to our port workers and prioritising their mental wellbeing. Together, we can make ports healthier, safer, and more supportive places to work.
