PSS marks National Apprenticeship Week 2026
News |Published: Feb 9, 2026
Port Skills and Safety is marking the first day of National Apprenticeship Week 2026 by shining a light on the apprentices helping to shape the future of the UK port sector. Taking place alongside the devolved nations’ apprenticeship weeks, the campaign celebrates the people behind the roles and the breadth of opportunities available across ports.
Throughout the week, PSS will be sharing sector-wide activities that capture the real stories, voices, and experiences of port apprentices from across the UK. The aim is simple – to raise awareness of the diverse career pathways available in ports and to inspire the next generation to consider apprenticeships as a route into the sector.
Commenting on the importance of apprenticeships, PSS CEO Debbie Cavaldoro said: “Apprenticeships are vital to the future of the port sector. They provide a practical, high-quality route into skilled roles, while also supporting ports to upskill and retrain their existing workforce. At a time of rapid change, apprenticeships help ensure we have the skills, capability, and resilience the sector needs both now and in the years ahead.”
Content will be shared throughout the week via the PSS website and social channels, highlighting the impact apprentices are having across the port sector. Follow PSS on LinkedIn for updates and to join the conversation during National Apprenticeship Week.
