Port Skills and Safety welcomed the start of Maritime Safety Week on the 01 July 2024. This week was dedicated to promoting a safe maritime industry, through sharing of best practice and promoting the skills needed by our workforce to ensure that everyone in the port industry is trained to a high standard and able to go home safe at the end of each day.
One of the highlights of the week was the PSS members’ conference, following on and improving on the 2023 conference, held at Stamford Bridge for a day of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Maritime Safety Week serves as a crucial platform to address challenges, share knowledge, and foster collaboration among PSS members, industry stakeholders, and government bodies. As well as the PSS conference, the week-long initiative encompassed various activities and website articles highlighting the key port safety concerns and measures that can be undertaken to mitigate risks.
Across the week PSS highlighted the key accident statistics from the 2023 review, announce the results of the annual Port Happiness survey and presented articles on key safety concerns for the sector.
