Introducing a suite of solutions brought to you by PSS and COMET to further improve safety and operational excellence in your port.
The port industry continues to evolve, and so do its safety challenges. To address these needs, Port Skills and Safety (PSS) has created a programme in collaboration with COMET to offer a new suite of solutions designed to further improve safety standards and develop critical skills within our industry.
Focused solutions for the challenges ports face today
Providing PSS members with access to practical tools like COMET’s Incident Investigation software and training, in-depth HSE culture assessments, and behavioural training programmes. These solutions have been designed to meet the specific needs of PSS member ports, helping to strengthen safety culture and prevent critical failures.

Live investigation support:
COMET’s expert investigators can provide independent live support for significant investigations at preferential rates.
Future-proof functionality:
The collaboration includes a commitment to ongoing innovation, with new features and enhanced data science capabilities scheduled for release throughout the year. This includes opportunities to analyse legacy investigations, offering deeper insights and lasting value.
HSE Culture Assessments and Training:
Our qualitative HSE culture assessments go beyond the standard survey. Through confidential, one-to-one conversations with a cross-section of personnel, we can “hear the unheard” by uncovering insights that might otherwise go unnoticed. We also conduct site visits to observe real-world practices against expected procedures, allowing us to “see the unseen”. The recommendations we provide come from a comprehensive mix of inputs, ensuring the most important issues are addressed without any bias or agenda—enabling us to “say the unsaid” and deliver meaningful, unbiased improvements for your port’s safety culture.
For organisations of any size, these assessments are both scalable and affordable.
- Results are presented in a consistent format, enabling easy aggregation of information across the industry.
- Benefit from anonymised feedback, providing you with rich, relevant, and up-to-date data to support industry-wide improvements.
Exclusive supervisory training for PSS members:
PSS members have access to a specialised 2-Day Supervision workshop. This programme, backed by over 20 years of experience in delivering internationally accredited training, is designed to equip PSS members with the practical tools and skills necessary to thrive in high-risk, fast-paced environments.
The workshop will be available on a public basis several times a year, offering the best of the above and aimed at classes made up of representatives from different ports and port suppliers. Additionally, PSS members have the option to customise this training for in-house delivery, ensuring it meets the unique needs of your port.
Frontline safety culture training
Recognising the critical role frontline workers play in maintaining a strong safety culture, we’re offering PSS members exclusive access to a tailored 1-day workshop designed specifically for dockers and operatives. Drawing on our proven experience with Peel Ports, this high-energy training session focuses on the fundamentals of safety culture, using real port scenarios, challenges, and activities to ensure practical, hands-on learning.
With small class sizes of up to 15 participants, this workshop offers an engaging, impactful training experience that directly addresses the unique needs of frontline teams in the port industry.
IOSH Incident Investigation Training
PSS members have ongoing access to our IOSH Incident Investigation Training, with an exclusive opportunity to upgrade to the enhanced COMET version. This advanced training option not only covers standard incident investigation practices but also includes Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for deeper insights and more effective outcomes.
