This National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) is based on the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Port Operations and has been developed in close consultation with industry.
It involves the skills and knowledge needed to do the job, ability to organise and identify and prevent problems. The achievement of this NVQ will encourage a port operative to value their contribution to the workplace, and it will develop their skills and potential.
This qualification requires occupational evidence.

Stevedore, port operative.
Level
This is a level 2 qualification.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification though candidates should have the potential to achieve the units within it.
Candidates must have the minimum levels of English and maths to comply with the health and safety aspects of the scheme, the completion of the learning outcomes and the external assessment.
Typical duration
60 (minimum) to 80 (maximum) guided learning hours.

This qualification offers progression opportunities, from apprenticeships to wider employment.
