PSS has called for members to submit data to help it build a picture of the early careers work and programmes that are being used in ports.

Data on early careers initiatives will help PSS determine where further information and promotion may be required to give ports a better understanding of the range of programmes available to support talent attraction.

Early careers initiatives data should include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Apprenticeships.
  • Graduate programmes.
  • Internships.
  • Traineeships.
  • Work experience programmes.
  • T Level industry placements.

Early careers data is already collated by ports so can be exported to Excel and emailed to PSS.

Data should include:

  • Name of scheme (e.g. apprenticeship, graduate programme, T Level placement, etc.)
  • Name of the apprenticeship standard/framework or course.
  • Job role or area of work.
  • Expected start and end date.
  • Volume of individuals for each programme. This can simply be left in separate rows for each individual if the data is already held in that format.

PSS requests that this data is submitted to info@portskillsandsafety.co.uk no later than 31 October 2024.

It is the intention to gather this data annually in September to measure the progress and impact of PSS’s work in this area.
