Fully revised and updated containers handling SiP launched

PSS is pleased to present the fully revised and updated Safety in Ports guidance 003 – Container Handling. Following the launch of SiP 000 Guidance Framework last year, this revised SiP is focussed solely on the handling of containers through ports. It includes new sections on terminal management, and on the management of container transport by road and rail, in addition to guidance on the loading and unloading of vessels.

This SiP was revised by a PSS Working Group comprising representatives from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), trade unions and port operatives from PSS members to ensure it fully represents the work undertaken in ports. The SiP is therefore presented in collaboration with the HSE, Unite the Union.

The SiP is available free of charge to non members, while PSS members will also have access to an illustrated version and a range of supporting resources from mid June.
