Maritime safety week: 07 - 11 July 2025

Port Skills and Safety once again celebrated Maritime Safety Week during the first week of July. The week is dedicated to promoting a safe maritime industry, through sharing of best practice and promoting the skills needed by our workforce to ensure that everyone in the port industry is trained to a high standard and able to go home safe at the end of each day.

One of the highlights of the week was the PSS members’ conference, focussing on the theme of a Safer Tomorrow – continuing the campaign looking at what a safer tomorrow for ports will look like, and how we will get there together.

Maritime Safety Week serves as a crucial platform to address challenges, share knowledge, and foster collaboration among PSS members, industry stakeholders, and government bodies. As well as the PSS conference, the week-long initiative encompassed various activities and website articles highlighting the key port safety concerns and measures that can be undertaken to mitigate risks.

Across the week PSS highlighted the key accident statistics from the 2024 review and met with representatives from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE)
