Condor Ferries LTD

CEO Message:

For those of you perusing our website for perhaps the first time, welcome to Condor Ferries.

My association with the company started around three years’ ago, whilst Condor was originally founded in 1964. Our roots, however, can be traced back to soon after the Second World War, when we started operating between France and the Channel Islands.

In 1985, our first service linking the Islands with the UK was launched and today, we provide year round, lifeline freight and passenger services, connecting Jersey, Guernsey, Portsmouth and Poole in the UK and the French ports of St Malo and Cherbourg.

Each year, we carry just under 1 million passengers, 200,000 passenger vehicles and 65,000 freight trailers across our network on a mixed fleet of high-speed catamarans and conventional vessels. Jersey and Guernsey are now serviced by direct, high speed sailings from Poole, with double the car and passenger capacity on these key routes than was possible in the previous schedule.

The introduction of Condor Voyager in 2021 delivers 40% more deck space than her predecessor and the new connection between Cherbourg and Guernsey is designed to help inbound tourism. Timetables also now have non-operational days built in as contingency. Condor Islander, a second conventional passenger and freight ferry, began operations in autumn 2023, providing year round resilience and connectivity.

Condor Breaks, our tour operating company, was set up in 2021 and offers inclusive package deals to hotels and self-catering establishments in the Islands and to France and the UK.

With an eye on the future, Condor is exploring new technologies and in 2024, will trial commercial passenger sailings using battery powered hydrofoils and Americas Cup technology, as a member of the Belfast Maritime Consortium in Northern Ireland.

As part of our ESG responsibilities, I am pleased to confirm that we use low grade fuel in our vessels, reducing our carbon emissions, have introduced recycling and a host of other initiatives.

The company is an active supporter of Channel Islands’ charities and organisations and our popular Community Fund provides donations each year to worthy causes and initiatives.

I hope you enjoy reading our website and perhaps will see you on one of sailings or on a Condor Break in due course.
