Port Control Marine Assistant

The Port of Blyth is a modern statutory Trust Port handling up to 1.5 million tonnes of cargo each year across a variety of sectors and with ambitious plans for future expansion. The following permanent position has arisen in the Marine Services department.

The Role

Applications are invited from individuals with the relevant qualities, experience & certification to fill the position of Marine Assistant.

The Marine Assistant is responsible to the Harbour Master for the safe and efficient management of all marine activity within the Port of Blyth harbour limits. The successful candidate must be able to remain calm and professional during all operations and should demonstrate excellent communication skills.

The post will be part of a 5 person rota working a 365 day / 12 hour watch keeping system which includes night time, weekend and public holiday working.

We may consider job share for someone that would be willing to work night shift.

Previous experience of marine navigation / Port operations would be desirable though consideration will be given to individuals from other associated backgrounds with the relevant skills and experience required.

An attractive remuneration package (salary, performance related bonus, pension scheme, private medical insurance, annual leave etc.) is offered for the post which is expected to commence November / December 2018.
