1. Introduction/ Background

1. Port Marine Safety Code (PMSC) is applicable to both statutory harbour authorities and to other marine facilities which may not have statutory powers and duties. The Code is endorsed by the UK Government, devolved administrations and representatives from across the maritime sector and while the Code is not mandatory, these bodies have a strong expectation that all harbour authorities will comply.

2. The following section provides the PMSC compliance requirement for the period 2021- 2024.

2. PMSC Compliance Requirement

1. Every three years the duty holder of Statutory harbour authorities, private ports and other marine facilities is required to send a signed statement to the MCA confirming their organisation’s PMSC compliance. The next round of compliance statements is due on or before the 31st March 2021. Statements should be sent via email to pmsc2012compliance@mgca.gov.uk
