Inaugural Maritime Safety Week Announced  - 9th to 13th July

Published: Thursday, July 5, 2018 - 19:55

The Inaugural UK Maritime Safety Week has been recently announced for the week 9th - 13th July 2018 by Maritime Minister, Nusrat Ghani MP. The objectives of the week have been outlined in the ministerial correspondence as

  1. Safety is being absolutely critical to underpinning success at every level
  2. To raise awareness and highlight the excellent work which is already being done in this space by a diverse range of organisations and individuals in this sector

The Inaugural UK Maritime Safety Week is a unique opportunity to recognise the contributions of PSS member ports and to celebrate success. No organisation can have a good reputation, good productivity and poor safety. all three are interlinked and as the minister rightfully points out 'Safety Underpins Success'. This also provides us with an opportunity to celebrate the various successes that we have been achieving as an industry and broadcast it to the rest of the UK.

In order to stimulate conversations and make connections under the banner of the Maritime Safety Week, the minister, various industry bodies including PSS will be retweeting throughout the week the various initiatives of member ports with the hastags #martimesafetyweek and #maritimesafetymatters.

We would be pleased to retweet your initiatives to the industry if you notify us using our hashtag #Saferports. Conversely, do send us an email regarding your initiatives and photos, and we would gladly tweet or post your successes to our social media channels on your behalf.
