Safe Timber Handling in Ports

Contains practical guidance on the safe handling of sawn timber packs and board/sheet materials, to and from conventional ‘lift on lift off’ (lo-lo) vessels, in ports. It is aimed at all dock premises where timber packs and board/sheet materials are handled. This document must be read in conjunction with the HSE guidance: ‘Safe Stacking of Sawn Timber and Board Materials’ – HSE information sheet, Woodworking Sheet No. 2 (Revised). Reference should also be made to the section on forest products in the International Labour Organization (ILO) Code of Practice on Safety and Health in Ports (ILO 152).
