Hull College Ports & Logistics Centre of Vocational Excellence
Team Humber at Hull College is the lead partner in the Ports and Logistics Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE). Team Humber have developed a range of specialist ports and logistics provision that gives trainees a fuller understanding of logistics, transport and the supply chain, ranging from Taster Days for schools, through to professional and vocational qualifications for those already working in the sector.
In May 2008, a Consortium led by the Ports and Logistics CoVE was awarded the contract by Skills for Logistics Sector Skills Council, to manage the Logistics Academy Yorkshire and Humber (LAYH). It is anticipated that LAYH will provide a ‘One Stop Shop’ service, for Ports and Logistics employers and employees seeking information, advice and guidance about training and development.
October 2008 saw the launch of the Foundation and Degree in Ports and Logistics in October 2008, designed to meet the needs of the new logistics manager in the international ports sector.
