SAFETY TRAINING BULLETIN:
FREE ASBESTOS TRAINING COURSES OCT-NOV 2011

HSE and asbestos training providers are working together to promote and provide free asbestos awareness training.

From September to November 2011, training providers will be pledging and delivering free training sessions at a place near you. It is hoped that 4000 face-to-face training hours and an additional 4,000 hours of online training will be offered up by various providers.

The free training will be available throughout October and November and is aimed at tradesmen such as joiners, electricians and plumbers who are most likely to disturb the fibres as they go about their work – around 20 a week lose their lives to asbestos-related diseases.

As of 30 Sep 2011 some 6500 hours for free training have been pledged by training providers across the UK. All you need to do to take advantage is go to the HSE website and follow the instructions to sign up to available courses. [HSE link: www.hse.gov.uk/press/2011/hse-asbestospledge.htm ]
