Merchant Shipping Asbestos Regulations 2006

The Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) has drafted new regulations entitled: The Merchant Shipping and Fishing Vessels (Health and Safety at Work) (Asbestos) Regulations 2006. There is also an associated draft MGN of the same name. The MCA is currently seeking comments on the proposed Regulations. As with the terrestrial regulations, there is the requirement to assess the risk of employee exposure to asbestos and take the appropriate health and safety precautions.
