HSE Cost Benefit Analysis in Support of ALARP Decisions

Subscribers are advised that the HSE has published a guide on their website to help explain the uses and limitations of Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA). In particular, the guide is concerned with the correct use of CBA as part of ‘as low as reasonably practicable’ (ALARP) decisions. Although the guide is designed for use by HSE Inspectors, it provides valuable insight into the recommended decision-making techniques endorsed by the UK legal system.
