About the Course
One of the many changes brought about by the Dangerous Substances in Harbour Areas Regulations 1987 (DSHA) was in the handling of explosives in ports. Not only were byelaws replaced by a system of explosives licences, but Explosives Security Officers (ESOs) were required to be appointed by both the Port Authority and Berth Operators. This course addresses the role of an ESO; their responsibilities as laid out by the Regulations as well as the nature of explosives and security arrangements.
