HSE and Ports Industry Event - 14 January 2011
October 13 2010
Health & Safety in Ports – A Decade of Progress
The Health and Safety Executive will host a major event in Liverpool on 14 January 2011 at the Mersey Maritime Museum to officially ‘launch’ the Ports industry Health & Safety Guidance, which is due to be published in October 2010 on the PSS website. This comprehensive health and safety guidance, supported and badged by the HSE, is the result of considerable work by port industry representatives, and aims to provide practical advice and guidance to all those who work in and around our Ports.
The event will also set out HSE and industry plans for partnership working in 2011 and beyond, including plans for a follow-up to the Safer Ports Initiative phases 1 and 2, at regional events around the country.
The HSE are keen to acknowledge the industry’s achievements in improving health and safety over the last 10 years, and to maintain the partnership working which has been so effective in recent years.
Speakers and topics are expected to include senior HSE representatives and the HSE Strategy, DfT Ports Policy and the Port Marine Safety Code, MCA, PSS and industry representatives, as well as contributions from others with an interest in the wider logistics industry.
The event is aimed at senior representatives of the Ports & Logistics sectors and their health and safety managers and advisers, as well as workers representatives, and will be by invitation.
All PSS member organisations will receive a formal invitation to the event, but anyone who would like to attend is welcome to register their early interest by e-mail reply to: info@portskillsandsafety.co.uk
