Report on the 2009 UK Championship for the Grand Prior Trophy

This year’s UK Championship for the Grand Prior Trophy was held in Coton House, Rugby on 11th November. The venue was provided by the Royal Mail.

2009 marked the 60th anniversary of these competitions which bring together the best first aiders from around the UK. The ports’ industry was represented by teams from Associated British Ports, Goole and Ipswich and Associated British Ports, Grimsby & Immingham. The reserves for both teams came from Associated British Ports, Ipswich

Twenty one teams competed on the day and the competition was, as ever, extremely fierce and although both our teams performed well they were unable to feature amongst the trophy winners.

Winners in Lane “B” – National Industrial British Gypsum

JWT, who qualified for the Grand Priors by winning the NFACA competitions, were the overall UK Champions for 2009 – but we hope it could be our turn to take the trophy next year.
