Health and Safety in Docks Guidance

The Health and Safety Guidance in Docks Project is one of the main priorities of PSS as this will eventually replace the current guidance “Safety in Docks”, We have been advised that the HSE will seek to revoke the Dock Regulations 1988, as part of their simplification plan to aid compliance.

The Guidance Project Group meets every 4 to 6 weeks and provisionally agrees the content of each topic prior to submission to the Editorial Panel which is made up of various stakeholders.

Guidance has been approved by the HSE and published on:

General Cargo Handling, Container Handling, Timber Handling, Mooring, Bulk Liquids, Dry Bulk Cargo Handling, Dry Bulk Cargo Storage, Lighting

Further topics are in production, including:

Workplace Transport – Planning and Terminal Operations, Workplace Transport – STO-RO and RO-RO Operations, Workplace Transport – Passenger Operations.

Members are encouraged to identify other tipocs that they believe will be useful by contacting Peter Hanley at PSS.
