PSS Membership

Full membership to PSS is based on a three tier charging system according to the number employed. The per head rate for 2012 is £21.84 per employee plus VAT at the standard rate. Details are as follows:

Training Provider Membership is open to training providers and consultants providing services to the ports industry

Affiliate membership is for those organisations working closely with the ports industry, but not eligible for either full or training provider affiliate categories of subscription.

As a subscriber you will receive the PSS bi-monthly update, which summarises the main developments within the ports industry, and PSS’ work in this area. You will therefore have an early opportunity to become more involved in the work of PSS. You will also have access to the subscriber area of our website and receive notifications emails with industry-specific information.

You will receive invitations to the Port Skills and Safety Group meetings, which are held three times a year at various locations. These events are well attended by UK wide representatives and are a good way of keeping in touch with developments within the industry, as well as providing an invaluable networking opportunity within the sector.

As a PSS member you are free to contact us about port related health and safety issues. Members are able to appoint PSS as one of their ‘competent persons’, in accordance with the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, reflecting the range of health and safety services and advice provided.

We offer various courses including Dangerous Goods, Explosive Security Officers, and Managing Safely in Ports which is accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
